MAC Week 1 comment on peer blogs

The copyright laws are not built to always protect the large companies, but also to give the individual creator a little protection as well. Imagine if you place your heart and soul into a project just to realize that somebody else is going to take credit for it or better yet sell your idea to make money.

I really think that fair use needs to be better defined and spelled out especially with the utilization of of more media in our classrooms. There needs to be clear and straightforward rules as well as they need to be simplified. When dealing with access to print materials by persons with special needs, laws like Chaffee need to be clearer and better defined. Materials need to be accessible to all and the copyright laws should support that.

Completely agree with your statement. The problem is that there is now more media that ever before, so there is no one blank clause that would cover all. Maybe the could write "Best Practices in Fair Use for educators"
